OpenXR is a working group led by the Khronos Group consortium with the goal of creating a standard for virtual reality and augmented reality. Oculus, Sony, Google and many other industry representatives want to counteract the fragmentation of the market with OpenXR. Only Microsoft was missing in the list so far. Now Microsoft has also joined. The objective is to promote a standardization that allows developers and end users to easily operate or use as many devices as possible. Developers of VR applications could simultaneously develop with less effort for multiple VR platforms. For 2018 first concrete shifts are announced. We can be curious.
